An infant must be aged less than 24 months on the day of travel and must be older than 14 days for health and safety reasons. Charges for infants vary depending on the route and length of flight and will be detailed in the booking process. Each adult can only accompany one infant. Please note there is a restriction on how many infants can travel on each flight. Infants are not entitled to their own seat or to a personal baggage allowance.

Children aged 2 years and older pay the full fare and have their own seat and also have a full baggage allowance.

Unaccompanied young persons

Under 14 years of age
Thomson Airways will not accept unaccompanied minors under 14 years of age for carriage. A passenger aged 16 years or over (on the same reservation) must always accompany children under the age of 14 years.

14 – 15 years of age
Thomson Airways will carry unaccompanied young persons aged 14 or 15 years who are able to travel unassisted. A parent or legal guardian must accompany the young person to check-in, and a valid photo-id in addition to the country specific documentation (detailed below) must be presented. We strongly recommend that parents or guardians of unaccompanied young persons remain in the airport until the flight has departed.

Certain other Carriers (e.g. non-Thomson Airways flights) do not have the same young persons policy (as above), please refer to these carriers directly before making your booking.

Austria
A notarised letter from parent, or legal guardian, authorizing travel.

Croatia
Young Persons travelling alone must be in possession of official permission from parents.

France
Special regulations apply to young persons of French nationality being less than 18 years of age; when leaving France and travelling either accompanied or unaccompanied (especially those who are unaccompanied by their legal guardian and are not in possession of their own valid passport, or those who are not mentioned on the valid passport of the accompanying person) must hold an “Attestation d’Autorisation de Sortie” (“Exit Approval”). If French minors over 7 years of age are travelling on their parent’s passport, this document must show a photograph of the child.

Latvia
When leaving Latvia, minors of Latvian nationality, travelling alone or with a guardian other than parents, must hold a letter of authorisation from parents endorsed by a sworn notary.

Portugal
A minor under the age of 18 travelling to Portugal must either:

• be accompanied by a parent or guardian
• be met at the airport or point of entry by a parent or guardian, or
• carry a letter of authorisation to travel from a parent or guardian. The letter should name the adult responsible for the minor during his/her stay.

Romania
Romanian minors under 18 years of age will be allowed to leave Romania if travelling with both parents, or travelling with one parent and holding a letter of authorisation of absent parent, or travelling with a legal guardian, and holding a letter of authorisation from parents and also holding a proof of a clear criminal record.

Spain
Minors up to 18 years of age and travelling alone must hold a passport or National Identity Card and an exit form from country of origin (if required by that country). This exit form must be certified by the parent(s) or legal guardian and legalized by their local authorities e.g. police, immigration authorities.
